You do not need to take the Foreign Language Placement exam if:
- You do not wish to study a foreign language
- You will be starting a new language
- You have taken the College Board Advanced Placement Test or Achievement Test (SAT II) in Russian only, and you plan to continue studying Russian; your score will provide us with the necessary information for placement.
You do need to take the Foreign Language Placement exam if:
You wish to continue your study of Arabic, Chinese, Classical Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, or Korean language.

Arabic: Please submit the form below and wait for additional instructions from the department.
Classical Greek: If you studied Classical Greek in High School, please contact the Classics Department at firstname.lastname@example.org for placement.
Hebrew: Please submit the form below and and contact Martin Luther Chan (email@example.com).
Hindi: Please submit the form below and contact Madhavi Verma (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Japanese: The written portion of the Japanese exam will take place in Canvas and the oral exams will be conducted during the fourth week of August. All the details on the exam can be found on the East Asian Languages and Cultures web site.
Korean: The Korean exam will take place in Canvas. Please email Dr. Mimi Kim (email@example.com) to be enrolled in the exam.
